About Us

We provide personalized auditing, accounting, tax, and business advisory services to closely-held businesses and high net worth individuals in the Seattle area and surrounding Pacific Northwest. Our goal is to help our clients reach their maximum potential by achieving their financial goals.

In 1980, the five certified public accountants who combined their talents to form Sweeney Conrad recognized an unmet need: “We saw a need to provide principal-to-principal, owner-to-owner accounting services to privately owned companies in the Northwest,” says firm President Dennis Conrad. “We believed that these companies in particular weren’t efficiently served by the Big Eight firms, and there was an opportunity for another local firm to provide sophisticated services to their business sector.”

Dennis Conrad, Mike Sweeney, Doug Klan, Kermit Anderson, and Ken Johnson left the national accounting firm where they had worked for over 10 years and formed our firm, with the goal of meeting that need. Since then, Sweeney Conrad’s experience has been dedicated to meeting the needs of closely-held businesses in a variety of industries and of individuals with high personal net worth.

Today, Sweeney Conrad is one of the largest locally owned certified public accounting firms in the region, with clients drawn from all sectors of private industry. The firm owes its rapid growth to its constant focus on providing quality tax, auditing, and consulting services, including assistance with long-range planning, the income tax needs of client companies and their owners or executives, merger and acquisition assistance, and general business consulting.

Sweeney Conrad provides resources and expanded expertise through our memberships in PKF North American Network and PKF International, Ltd. PKF North American Network http://www.pkfnan.org is an association with over 85 independently owned public accounting firms that share educational, client service, technical and marketing resources and expertise. We have a similar relationship with more than 150 additional firms around the world through our affiliation with PKF International, Ltd. This network allows us to draw on the experience of professionals in the United States and worldwide, and when appropriate, utilize these firms as an extension of our practice as we continue to offer superior service to individual and corporate clients representing a full range of industries with a diversity of interests and business needs.

Focus

Each business client at Sweeney Conrad is served by a team of accountants led by a partner with more than 15 years experience. The services we provide depend entirely on the needs of each client. For start-up businesses, we provide financial and management “incubator” services. For companies with annual revenues of less than $3-5 million, we provide periodic accounting and tax compliance services. For closely-held businesses with annual revenues exceeding $3 million, and for individuals, we provide a complete range of accounting, tax, and advisory services.

Among our many specialties for business and individual clients are audit and accounting services, tax planning and compliance services, acquisition and divestiture services, litigation support services, business planning and development, estate planning, divorce consulting, high net worth individual services, small business accounting services, and fraud investigation services.

Community Involvement

At Sweeney Conrad, our community involvement is a natural extension of our focus on our clients. The same care and commitment we have shown in all our dealings with the clients we serve is also reflected in our focus on the community in which we live and work. As a result, you will find our shareholders and employees taking major roles in several different local professional organizations.

In recognition of our community focus, Sweeney Conrad was a recent recipient of the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce “Corporate Citizenship” Award for outstanding community involvement. “We are very proud of the hundreds of hours our employees give to the community and our profession,” says firm President Dennis Conrad. Shareholders and staff serve on a variety of local boards and committees, including the University of Washington Accounting Development Fund and Accounting Advisory Panel, the Bellevue Downtown Association, local Chambers of Commerce, and the Chief Seattle Council Boy Scouts of America.

In May 2000, Dennis accepted the Advance Bellevue Best Corporate Citizen award in recognition of his numerous contributions to our community on behalf of our firm. In addition, one of our shareholders has served as President of the Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants, the state’s over 9,000-member professional association. “We believe that since we benefit from the community, we need to give something back to the community,” says Conrad. “As long as we have the time and our expertise is needed, we will give.”
